RETENTION PLANNING

One of our core values at Extenda is OPPORTUNITY.

We believe that all of our staff should be given the opportunity to learn, progress and grow their careers with Extenda and our clients.

Alongside this is an expectation that people are fairly rewarded in accordance with their value in the marketplace and organisations with which they support.

When we are consulting with potential new clients, one of the things we are looking for in our Business Review is an alignment of values. Being selective in the clients we work with and outlining expectations clearly on both sides from the beginning has been a key part of our success.

We love it when clients ask questions on attrition or more importantly on retention.

First of all, we have one of the lowest rates of attrition in the industry and mainly I think because we start with the end goal in mind. Providing professional Filipino Staff with long term career opportunities with like-minded organisations around the world.

So how do we approach retention and retention planning?

Consultation

A business review is conducted with our clients initially so we can get a good understanding of their business. We cover things like Core Business, Organisational Structure, Key Clients, Competitors, Market Position, Value Proposition/ Unique Selling Points, Growth Forecasts and Pain Points and Challenges the business might be facing.

This allows us insight into where a partnership with us can be most beneficial. We also gain a good understanding of the type of business with and what sort of culture they have. Business owners have an open forum to ask questions of us which makes for a solid two-way conversation and generally we come to a point where we can clearly see if there is an alignment of values and opportunity to work together.

During this business review we are also sharing stories of success. Things we have seen work well and equally, what hasn’t. We also clearly outline our expectations when it comes to our people. We get a commitment that our people will be given the opportunity to learn, progress and grow their careers long term.

Our consultative approach is ongoing, and we work closely with our clients at all levels to ensure we bridge any cultural gaps that can naturally occur.

Feedback, Reviews and Performance Evaluation

Team Structures and Career Planning

Business Best Practice is Business Best Practice

Feedback, Reviews and Performance Evaluation

Formally we conduct staff performance evaluations at 6 months from first hire and then annually moving forward.

Our approach is to meet with the onshore staff members who are responsible for day-to-day operations of the offshore team. We do a full performance appraisal and gain detailed feedback. Normally over a 45-minute Zoom call.

Next, we meet with the Extenda staff member and go through the same process. We collaborate this information and report back on all sides including senior management and provide recommendations moving forward.

It is also an opportunity for us as an organisation to learn where we can improve our service and support.

Highly valuable for all stakeholders.

Team Structures and Career Planning

When team members are working well withing an organisation, we find that their roles tend to expand quite quickly, and in cases where roles have diversified and progressed, we often recommend salary and job title adjustments to reflect this. In line with the value team members are bringing to an organisation.

Career progression and opportunity are key drivers for the younger generation of staff we are hiring and businesses that embrace and plan for this always see the biggest upside.

As teams grow, we also recommend looking at team structure. Look to promote high performing staff from within.

This helps for entry level staff and new hires to see a pathway forward .

Business Best Practice is Business Best Practice

As business leaders we should all be thinking about what business best practice is.

And in a world evolving as fast as this one it takes continual focus and businesses need to be flexible and fluid to ever changes needs and expectations of staff.

My point is if it applies to your business and people onshore then it more than likely applies to your offshore team.

Embrace this simple philosophy for success.

Communication

Key value proposition at Extenda is our knowledge. We have 7 years of operational experience in the Philippines. Working with clients in the U.S.A. , Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Hong Kong and across Europe.

We believe in the Philippines and its people and know the future is bright.
